Millard Fillmore Major Accomplishments

Millard Fillmore was born January 7th, 1800 in a town called Summerhill, New York in the woodlands on the edge of civilization. As a child, Fillmore worked on the family farm mowing hay, hoeing corn, and reaping wheat. During winters, he cut and hauled firewood, and in warmer seasons, he cut trees, burned brush, and pulled stumps. As a boy, Millard would often steal away to the woods to fish and hunt. At 14, Millard was an apprentice to a clothes maker, what he had planned on doing as a career. In his later years, Fillmore became the 13th president and was the last president of the Whig party. Millard’s accomplishments while in and out of office were not enormous, but were needed. He can be credited with things like keeping the United States
