Mindset Writing Prompts

This assignment made me realize how much of an introvert I really am. There isn't anyone who I really know well enough to to be able to distinguish if they have a firm or a growth mindset. So I decided to just ask people what mindset they thought they were, then examine to see if they were right. In the book there is a section where it shows how the two mindsets work. It gives an example of a bad day and how each mindset would react; I read it out loud and asked how they would react. I chose to write about two people who are close in age and similar in personalities. For a couple of days, I hung around each one to see how they react in inconvenient situations.The results were a little surprising. The first person I asked was my brothers friend. His name is Evin and he is 26 years old. Right after high school he started to work in construction, he got the job through his dad. Now, Evin is the manager of the crew he works with. What he does, in his words, is “Over see the work being done in between naps and get paid the big bucks”. So even though he didn't go to college, he is doing pretty well. Now, Victoria is 24 years old and right after high school she attended college and became a physical therapy assistant. After a couple of years she decided to go back to school to further her career and graduated a few months ago. She also owns a home, a nice car, and goes backpacking almost every year. She is a smart, very opinionated, independent woman. Like Evin, she also is highly confident in herself; with all these qualities being similar to Evin's I also assumed she had a growth mindset.
