Examples within the text helped me determine, understand, and relate to the theme. From the very start of the story the narrator and writer, Amy, gave us clues on whom or what she was trying to be. She begged her mother to shop for her in the boys department of JC Pennys and wears clothes that are baggy with sport slogans on them.
Edgar Allan Poe has written many in depth, thrilling stories throughout his life. Two of Poe’s very well known stories include “The Cask of Amontillado” (“Cask”) and “Hop-Frog”. Both stories have been electrifying readers since 1846. By the reader inspecting the two short stories, fascinating differences and similarities can be discovered. “Cask” and “Hop-Frog” are very alike between their characters, conflicts, and themes.

Fantastical Realization Fantasy and fiction flood most of our childhood but, the older a child gets, the quicker fiction turns to fact as slowly but surely, the rug of fantastical imagination is pulled out beneath them. This is exactly the case in Li-Young Lee’s short poem A Story. A Story is about a father who struggles to tell stories to his son, but as the boy grows older, his coming of age begins to make their relationship complex. Story is an integral element in human life. Stories are the way humans have shared and learned for thousands of years. Storytelling is different from story writing. When a story is told, the original content lingers as long as the storytellers maintain that content. Once the story is retold it takes on different details and meaning.
Imagination is a light on a road that would normally be dark. It is a portal to a new universe that normally would be shut. And it is something that can be used so easily to form great works of literature off a single idea. Richard Connell uses his imagination and ours, to create a short story that is so enticing, and so captivating, that it tangles the mind of the reader into a web of suspense that can only by escaped by flipping to the next page. The way Connell holds this suspense and thrill in The Most Dangerous Game is by putting a likeable character into multiple situations of tension.

Good writing is supposed to invoke a sensation in the reader, one which causes the reader to live in the work and experience the mind of the author. Events and personal experiences allow authors to develop strong stories that are interesting. Ultimately leading to producing a final draft that contains gasping aspects and characteristics which attach the reader to the author. Some unique and meaningful similarities between “When the World as We Knew It Ended” by Joy Harjo and “The Tropics of New York “ by Claude McKay contain an appeal to sad emotions, the beauty of nature, and strong usage of imagery.
The narrative concept of my term project follows “Mickey and Mercy Grey’’ follows a story of Mickey a 20year old finance and accounting student at UCT and MercyGrey a stereotypically beautiful girl in his class, whose beauty he is in awe of but she doesn’t pay attention to him, she even has no idea he even exists. Mickey’s family used to have to make their own clothes when money was tight and opened up a fabric company which is now their staple and successful income. The authors want their audiences to use these tales and examples as life lessons and hope for them to utilize these sources in their future lives. These two ideas are presented through the use of figurative language, mainly metaphors. In addition, the similar tone of these pieces allows the author to connect more deeply with the readers. Toni Morrison’s Nobel lecture, folktales, and several poems illustrate how metaphors and tone are used to describe experience and caution the readers.
Literacy has applied over the course of my education and my life. As an education major, I believed that literacy was an ability to learn how to read and write. Furthermore, literacy has been a part of my education. I have come to an understanding that literacy is a lot more than what it seems. It’s about expressing yourself that includes your opinions and feelings.
