Thomas King relies on a multitude of sources for his work, such as historical events, movies, films, TV, politics, art, and Indian-White relations. King also, puts his own taste in the “Inconvenient Indian” and brings his own experiences in the story. He accomplishes this by being ironic and sarcastic throughout the entire story. King prefers to reflect on contemporary issues.
In Bharati Mukherjee essay “Two Ways to Belong in America.” the author explains the different lives of two sisters. The two sisters Mira and Bharati are both from India that moved to America. Both living separate lives in America for 35 years with Mira griping closely to her Indian citizenship as she marries an Indian student majoring in business administration. Bharati on the other hands does the opposite and marries a Canadian American.
Although she won a reduced majority in 1967, she won the majority in 1971 since she was the source of hope for poor and landless laborers. However, she wasn't able to provide the required services to her people because of the outbreak of war between India and Pakistan. In her political life, Gandhi aimed to overcome the poverty in the country and improve the economy.
Lucky enough for her, those needs can easily be met as a citizen, if she’s willing to make an effort to work and talk with the right people. Not to mention, Mukherjee is very interested in breaking away from the typical culture norms that follow with being Indian, while attempting to transform her identity. Tradition isn’t the main focus for the author; she’s just trying to live life in her own way. Plus life as a citizen in the U.S., helps defer from a lot of the issues currently surrounding visiting, working, or illegal immigrants within the country. It’s obvious Mukherjee sees a lot more opportunities and an easier living style for people who become citizens within the United States.

I read the book The Indian School by Gloria Whelan and the genre is Biography. In my book there is 96 pages. According to goodreads.com someone wrote that “the book sends a good message about the importance of maintaining a person’s culture, especially for children. ”I think this would be a good book for 8-12 and it would be the perfect for these ages because it the vocabulary is not to hard and if you love read about story 's from the past this would be a great book for you. The protagonists in this book the is a girl named Lucy and a girl named Raven.
Growing up in the United States from a very young age made me stray away from my Indian heritage, so in 2008, my parents saw the need to send my siblings and me to India in order to replenish the Indian culture in us. Initially, I had no idea as to how long we were going to live in India for, but by the third year, all I wanted was to come back to New York. Dharun Ravi was charged on 15 counts regarding sexual crimes, cyberbullying, hate crime, and invasion of privacy. By the end of the trial, the defendant was found guilty of hate crime, invasion of privacy and evidence tampering but was acquitted on the remaining charges (Hu, 2010). Ravi was sentenced to an aggregate three-year probationary term after serving 30 days at the at the correctional center.
