The body has not survived, but rather it would presumably have been wrapped in a cartonnage, a progression of peat, painted, and varnished cloths, and after that set inside this pine

He was a slim, dead, almost dainty young man of about twenty. He lay in the center of red clay trail near the village of My Khe. His jaw was in his throat. His one eye was shut, the other eye was a star-shaped hole. I killed him” (180).
“Women with child, but rippin up their bellies, tore them alive in pieces.”(Las Casas, Brevisima relacion de la destruction de las Indias) Las Casas wrote of how innocent, unborn children were killed. Natives were hung low, but high enough their feet did not reach the ground. “The erected certain Gibbets, large, but low made, so that their feet almost reached the ground… They made a fire to burn them to Ashes whilst hanging on them..” Fire was set underneath them, burning them alive.

For this assignment I have chosen the quote: “ Words can be like X-rays, if you use them properly–they'll go through anything. ”(Huxley 72), from chapter four of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. In the book, Helmholtz Watson, a professor at the College of Emotional Engineering, feels that his job doesn’t give him the satisfaction for which he yearns, and wishes to use his writing skill set to do something more valuable to him. He uses the quote above to profess his ambitions to his friend, Bernard Marx. I relate to this quote because I understand the importance of words, but, unlike Helmholtz, often have trouble being concise.

Throughout human history, children were thought of as servants, apprentices, or a means to ease workload. Children would work on the family farm or a family business. They could be easily taken advantage of compared to adults. The exploitation of children for labor without concern for their education or welfare was common and even the norm. No special concern about children existed.
They would shriek, as they were cut open alive, without anesthetic. They were stabbed onto a hook before being killed. They were frightened. They were chained up and yanked from their feet. They were moved by machinery and carts.
One of the most harrowing experiences of the Victorian Age was Child Labor. In my essay, I shall be discussing some of the trying tasks these young children had to endure during the nineteenth century. I will also be talking about some of the children’s detailed accounts of what it was like working in the factories, the mills, and the streets of London to survive the dismal period of child labor. I am also going to include secondary sources that I gathered to focus the attention on child labor as well. My essay will also depict why child labor is fully viewed as an atrocious act.
