The towns people aren't responsible for Miss Emily’s death but they could of been better neighbors. They chose to talk about her and spread rumors amongst the community. “As soon as the old people said, “poor Emily” the whispering began.” Some of the chatter throughout town was about her relationship with Homer Barron and how they thought she was going to kill herself.
