Burn it To The Ground
Dear Diary, Good Morning Diary, it’s very unusual for me to write in the morning but what happened yesterday was unforgettable.
Last night, Atticus woke me up in the middle of the night and helped me put on my bathrobe and coat. He then rushed me to the door with Jem. Once I got out, the fire at Miss Maudie’s house got my full attention. The neighbours also got out of the house and started to help Miss Maudie save her furniture. Three fire trucks tried to put out the flames, but they got delayed by the cold and one of the hoses burst.
After that, Atticus sent Jem and I to wait by the Radley’s house, which was well out of the way. I think he did it so he could keep us safe and away from the fire. Then …show more content…

After that, my family and I returned to our fortunately undamaged home and I was thankful for it. We got in the house and Atticus noticed something, he said I was wearing a blanket but I didn’t have that when I left the house. I was so shocked as to how I got the blanket on me. Atticus thought I went back to the house and disobeyed him, but I didn’t. So I explained to him that Jem and I stayed where he wanted us to stay and neither of us knew where the blanket came from. Then Atticus realized that it was Boo because his brother was busy helping Miss Maudie. So Boo was the only one left in the house and the only person that could give Jem and I the blanket. I couldn’t believe it at first but it all adds up. I also questioned myself about why neither Jem nor I felt it. Maybe it was because we were too busy and distracted and couldn’t stop looking at the fire. I was, and still am, so amazed at how he managed to do it and that I was so close to Boo and didn’t even know it. I want to thank him but I don’t know how. Well that is all for now.
