Someone was trying to kill him. To be fair, someone was always trying to kill him, but when you were the son of one of the wealthiest, most influential gangsters in town, assassination attempts were simply par the course. Leorio grew up under a constant threat of danger, so he knew how to watch his own back better than most. Despite the rival gangs and all his fathers’ enemies (and, he supposed, his enemies by default) he’d never really needed to be careful -- until now, that is. If the Paladiknight name came with an automatic target on his back, it also afforded him a certain level of protection, of untouchability. If his father thought this would be enough to convince him to come back, he was dead wrong. I’m done with this life. "Mister Paladiknight?” A moment later, his new bodyguard slipped into his room -- without even knocking, which would have annoyed Leorio to no end if he hadn’t been so dumbstruck. His new bodyguard was...a woman? “Hello,” the bodyguard murmured, politely inclining their head, their longish, soft-looking blond hair falling forward with the motion. “My name is Kurapika. Your father hired me to protect you. He informed me of the situation with the car bombing.” No...a man. Either way they were beautiful, with large dark eyes that would have been soulful and expressive if they hadn’t been so guarded. Leorio found himself staring, briefly mesmerized -- and then he shook his head, his brows furrowing. “Is this some kind of joke?” Kurapika arched a brow at the bluntness in his tone, but otherwise his expression was calm. “Your father doesn’t see the attempt on your life as a laughing matter, and neither do
