The Misunderstood Nature of Illegal Narcotics Society has grown to blame drugs for criminal activity as well as poverty, there has always been a reason to blame drugs not knowing that there is plenty of other reasons for illegal activity and poverty. This could easily be a result of researchers falsifying information in order to get the public to agree with them. Drug dealers and narcotic workers are often portrayed as the source of drug trafficking despite often being born or forced into this lifestyle. What most people fail to realize is that the United States government uses scapegoats and controversy to direct the focus away from the fact that they directly control the import of illegal narcotics to lower income urban neighborhoods. What this falsified research on drugs causes is the American public to blame narcotics for the problems that occur in society because there is no other explanation they can give. In 2011 the FDA revealed that a year's worth of studies from a major research lab were practically worthless, yet somehow the problem is still believed to be gangs and poor people. This idea is a result of the public being brainwashed by the media. “To this day, some drugs remain on the market despite the FDA having no additional scientific evidence to back up the safety and efficacy of these drugs.”(Garver 1) This is shedding light on how the U.S. Government isn't as involved as it should be with research done on drugs that are put on the market for humans to
