Prior to Writing 010 I had no understanding as to how difficult research papers were formatted. My experience on being capable to write a well-developed research paper was beyond minimal. This assignment was by far one of the most challenging. As a second year college student I know what is expected of me. In order to have a successful college writing career I believe one needs to be capable of properly locating credible sources, provide citations and avoid plagiarism.

Their main model in this book is they say/I say template, in which it helps writers to develop their arguments by paying attention to what others are saying, and engaging with a response. The authors goal is to demystify academic writing, and return it to its social and conversational roots. The authors want the writers to engage in the ideas of others. These concepts from this book, will help make a stronger, supportive argument.

The purpose of an argumentative essay is to hold a discussion to gain a better understanding of the topic. I have learned that I need to have an organized presentation and have strong evidence to write this specific writing.

Now, after I have spent so much time forcing the rules into my head, it feels second nature to write in this style. There seemed like way too many rules to keep up with them all. Double spacing, precise margins, and a specific way to orient the pages seemed difficult.
