Throughout the third quarter, many leaders were introduced in a series of texts and video clips. One important leader was Martin Luther King, Jr. from his “I Have a Dream” speech. His speech took place on August 28, 1963. In the speech, he was standing up for racism and segregation in the world. He was determined to create a world full of equal rights no matter the color of someone’s skin. Although there might be other important leaders in this unit, Martin Luther King Jr. is the most important and strongest leader because he was brave about explaining that he wanted the constitution to have civil rights. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke out about what he believed in. In his speech he says, “and if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.” He is explaining that the only way the nation will move on is if they unite as one. On the other hand, Jack from Jack-Marshall got the town to agree that they needed to start to move on. During his speech he said, “and when that day comes we will honor them.” He is saying that one day the team will recover and return back to the normal state of play and when they do they will honor those who lost their lives in the plane crash. Martin Luther King, Jr. has justified himself to be brave and have compassion when standing up for what he believes the world should be. Jack was a great leader also because he has empathy for the people and he is brave for stepping up as coach.
