Citizens in Salem were imposed to establish their innocent or be put to death, which caused conflicting issues in the village.
The events which took place in Salem in the dark year of 1962 can be seen as a crucible for every person living in that town. Every man, woman, and child was required to look past the lies and revenge-driven accusations of people they called neighbors, friends, and even family. They had to make it through this horrible time and change the sick way society was putting innocent people to death. This catastrophe in history is comparable to a modern day crucible, the fight against growing Islamophobia in America. These crucibles both saw the light of day due to lies and misrepresentation of specific groups of people.
Tracing back to the 16th century witch hunting has been around causing the lives of many innocent people destruction. Witch hunting has never died off, it is still here today. In my opinion witch hunting will always exist and occur as long as we have fear, ignorance and jealousy. Many people were accused of being a witch or committing witch activity mainly throughout the 16th and 19th century. Primarily because people fear for what they don't know or can't understand.
In the Salem Witch first instance of witchery is Betty/Elizabeth Parris, along with Abigail Williams when they started to scream and giggle uncontrollably, along with delusions, vomiting, muscle spasms, screaming, and writhing. William Griggs, a physician, diagnosed witchcraftery to the women. Soon, fueled by resentment and paranoia, more and more women were accused of being witches, while the community and system of justice piled up. The Trials had lasted from 1692 to 1693. The trials were basically a big test which helped figuring out whether or not people were guilty of witchcraft. This is an example of what a crucible is. The people of Salem even cited the Boston trials as proof for their accusations; because their afflicted girls had the same symptoms as those in Boston, then clearly both must have been telling the truth (Alexander 194).
