In the novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, everyone has money. The wealth that these characters have is a must for them. they show their wealth by flaunting the expensive attire they have or throw these parties in their expensive homes.

Will Smith once said, “Money and Success don’t change people; they merely amplify what is already there.” Similarly, In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan have different personalities although they are both in similar social class, and these similarities in social class ultimately show that money does not affect someone's personality; it is what someone chooses to do with the situation that they are in which determines one’s personality. Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan are in the same Social Class.
According to researchers and the University of Utah, “study participants were more likely to lie or behave immorally after being exposed to money-related words. ”This is important because in The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, characters are heavily influenced by money. Because money is involved, it brings conflict and love and loss. If money was not involved, The Great Gatsby would have been a simple love story about how Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby fell in love instead of a story of tragedy. Therefore, in The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses wealth as a key point in order to influence the characters actions, decision-making, and thought processes.

Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" wealth isn't just a background detail, it's practically a character in its own right, influencing the lives and decisions of everyone in the story. The 1920s, the era in which the novel is set, was a time of unheard of wealth and economy and Fitzgerald uses this to explore the relationship between money and happiness. At the heart of the story is Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire whose wealth is as dirty as he is. Gatsby is the meaning of the American Dream, a man who climbed his way up from nothing to achieve unimaginable success.
What is more valuable, love or money? In the novel the ¨The Great Gatsby¨ written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there is old and new money, Gatsby who is the main character in the novel comes from the side of new money. Gatsby finds out that his money can buy: a beautiful home, nice cars, friends, however; his wealth cannot buy the one thing that he wants most.
