In the scientific essay “Monkey see, Monkey do, Monkey connect” Frans de Waal argues that humans and animals imitate each other. Therefore, this creates a bond between us humans and species. Frans de Waal provides examples of survival, laughter and synchronization in order to show how we are all connected within each other. At the beginning of the essay, Frans de Waal discusses how laughter helps us have a bond with each other. In the text it states, “I often hear my chimps laugh during rough and tumble games and I cannot suppress a chuckle myself.” The word “chuckle” suggests that de waal wasn't able to hold on to his laugh when he saw the chimps messing around. In the middle of the essay, Frans de Waal transitions to the topic of synchronization. De Waal states” Known to walk normally at home-would suddenly metamorphose into an English cowboy.” The phrase “suddenly metamorphose into an English cowboy” suggests a change in how Tony Blair changes his walking style. The main reason why Tony changed his walking form is because former President George W. Bush walked in that style. This caused Tony to be influenced by George, essentially making George a role model towards Tony and most likely towards others as well. Therefore, this shows how they were both very important people in their countries, since they spent much time together it created a social bonding with each other.
