Considering this, she doesn't have a strong foundation based on her future and dreams she would like to achieve. While in the other hand, for Victor and his family their migration journeys being in Quincy, Florida there where they are picking tomatoes. For Victor his family is the inspiration and they will always be his inspiration because he does not want to see them suffer. He knows what they have been through and is ready to change not just his life, but theirs as well. Victor is his little sisters’ role model and the one held responsible since his other sisters are still back in Mexico.

Esperanza takes the job because she needs the money to help her mom who is sick and in the hospital and to earn money, so that her grandma can come to America. Esperanza is a brave 12 year-old
Her mom teaches Esperanza many life lessons throughout the story. The reader learns that the mom dropped out of school because she “didn't have nice clothes” (91). The mom regrets this decision as staying in school could have let her lead a better life in a wealthier place. Esperanza quickly realizes that she wants to stay in school to move out of Mango Street. This mom is also there for emotional support when Esperanza needed it.
Her going back to school is an example of her pushing through all the hardships that she has—a teen mom, no family, public housing, and much more. However, through this she becomes a hero
Esperanza shows she wants to go to college unlike her family. Sara and Esperanza struggled reaching their goals. They had to choose to go to college or face their unpleasant life. The only encouragement Esperanza gets from her mother, as she says, "Esperanza, you go to school. Study hard.
‘“I said no. This is ridiculous. I'm exhausted. I'm not filling it back in”’ (104). In the end she left them to go and be spoiled by her parents in the city.

When Lennie discovered the puppy had died, he was devastated and confused. He didn't intend to kill it, but he was being too rough with it. Curly wife is lonely and wants to talk to someone. She enters the barn and approaches Lennie, who is alone. Lennie is drawn in by her, but he is unaware of the danger in the situation he's in.
It is the start of World War two, I'm so terrified, my father has gone into the war I can hear all the gunshots, children crying and asking where is my daddy. I start getting tears in my eyes my mother is says "don't cry it is okay darling. " A little voice in my head is saying "It will be ok" but I Know it is not going to be okay, but I was so frozen with fear.
Massachusetts, 1692... what an awful time to be alive. Especially for a young, timid girl by the name of Clarabeth. Not exactly the most special of girls, just a hard worker for her family, an all around fair person. Unfortunately, Clarabeth woke from an unpleasant sleep with a start on a gloomy August twilight, to the sound of people shouting and an accused “witch” tied to a stake, crying with the force of a tidal wave, pleading to be let down.
Today me and Slim walked to the bunkhouse together, just chattin’ about the little pup that Slim gave to Lennie, which is moreover a kind gesture of him, since we both know that it means a lot to Lennie. Now the big guy’s got something to pet. I hope this keeps him damn busy, so he won’t do anything stupid which will get us in trouble. Slim commented on the power of Lennie, when he’s buckin’ barley, saying that he almost killed his partner. I felt proud at that moment, and as proud as I am I told him that Lennie can do anything if it doesn’t require much thinking.
Even though the girls enjoyed the excitement of pretending to be older, they can’t yet deal with the consequences of being women. In a different attempt of Esperanza trying to act grown up, she decides she wants to eat in the "canteen," where children that live too far to go home eat for lunch. Esperanza’s mother does not like the idea, but she later is convinced by her and writes her a note. Later a nun at school who is familiar where Esperanza lives and knows she lives close enough to go home for lunch confronts her. When Esperanza is confronted she breaks down and cries.
Later I would find out that was not the only reason he worked that god-forsaken job. "Pretty good game huh? " I asked. "I haven't been watching but I've been listening. It sounds like our defense is playing better than they have been," Roman said as he continued to scrape.
From visiting Dolores, she comes to realize what actually happened to her and understands why her mother is the way she is, concluding that Selena forgives herself by understanding that Dolores had meant to always protect
