In the novel Fahrenheit 451, the main character Montag is a fireman, but instead of putting out fires he starts them. At first Montag was a very closed person. He lived his life with society just being the average person. After meeting Clarisse, becoming interested in books and being curious to know more, his mind opened up. He became a completely different person who didn’t care about what society thought about him and whether or not he was doing something bad or defying society. Montag’s conflict with him wanting to know more about books teaches the reader that knowledge is power through how Montag wanting to learn makes him someone society wants to eliminate. Montag always had books he just never paid any attention to them or bothered reading
