The negatives are that my body is always worn down and tired. Softball has taken away my happiness, but taught me teamwork.” These are tough decisions kids may have to make, during their athletic career, leaving no good or right choice. Characters in movies, and in books, also have to face moral dilemmas such as, Batman and the Citizens of Gothem from the movie The Dark Knight, and George and Candy from the book Of Mice And Men. “I ain’t mad,” he said. I never been mad an’ I ain’t now. That’s a thing I want ya to know”. The choice reflects George in an unsettling light, because even though hes hurting himself and hurting his friend with this decision, he is also looking out for both of them in a way. Furthermore, the character Batman, is another good example for people/characters who are faced with moral dilemmas. In this movie Batman is faced with the decision of having to choose between revealing his real human identity, or innocent civilians being killed for everyday he doesn't reveal himself. The key to Batman's choice in this specific decision is the fact that his persona plays a key role in fighting crimes, which would leave him being jerporadized in his effectiveness. Revealing his identity would also leave people no longer respecting him and no longer seeing him as a hero. Lastly, the citizens of Gothem, are faced with equally hard choices, these decisions being when the Joker had placed two barges in the river, one full of average citizens, and the other one containing prisoners. The Joker informs both of these boats that both of the boats are equipped with a button which will blow the other boat up. One of the boats must blow the other up before midnight, or he will detinate both of them, killing everyone aboard them. A citizen from each boat stepped up, offering to push the button and have it blamed on them, the prisoner took the remote from the captain, and threw it out the ship and into the water, leaving what they thought was for themselves to die. On the other hand, the man from the civilian boat who stood up offering to press the button, to detinate the other ship, had got up in front of everybody with the button in hand. Yet he couldn't bring himself to touch the button either. So their decision was to let both of the boats detinate, instead of one boat killing the
