The principles of morality are quite distinct and have remained constant for centuries. Aristotle claimed that the two greatest virtues were contemplation and friendship. Friendship is only possible within a context of other vital values such as sympathy, trust, caring, and empathy. Greeks knew very well these characters, and they discussed and endorsed them in the 18th century during the Enlightenment by great thinkers such as Adam Smith and David Hume(Virtue ethics. ' In this case, the standard is not only the abstract principle of utility but that principle coalesced with a more personal consideration of desert and motive. The important factor here is that we should be happy and well-off as possible. This is also referred to as Pareto Optimum in economics; the name came from an Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto. The idea here is that we should always strive to reach a state where everybody is as well-off as possible without worsening anybody off, in the process.
