I chose to analyze the article labeled “More Than a Funny Name,” by Christine Gorman of Time magazine. The style of the article seems to be aimed for adults, but it would also be easy for teens, like me, to understand what they were reading. Anyways, the article doesn’t necessarily follow a certain layout, but the main topic and discussion of the article is that scientists found an extract from the ginkgo tree leaves that can postpone Alzheimer 's. Since there is not a permanent cure for Alzheimer 's, anything that works well enough to postpone it is viewed as a blessing. Since this entire article is centered around the same theme, it 's extremely easy to keep up with, which made me find it an enjoy article to read.
The title of the article is “More Than a Funny Name.” I am assuming the writer used this as the title so that they could immediately captivate you and make you ask questions. To be fair, their attempt worked, because I was immediately drawn to this particular article. However, the way that the title is printed is quite boring. It tied all of the main ideas presented in the introduction and the body together. It also manages to warn the reader not to go out and purchase ginkgo extract and expect it to prevent Alzheimer’s. The effort to make sure that the reader comprehended this is understandable. Someone who might have only skimmed the article could have mistaken it for a permanent cure for Alzheimer’s. Also, the article warns the reader to make sure that they contact a physician if they are experiencing any memory lapse issues. I feel like the conclusion was well written and ended the article in an appropriate way. It might not be the way I would have written it, but I think their effort to help people understand that they need to take care of themselves, is
