Mormons are distinctly dissimilar than other religions. Viewing this video regarding Mormon culture allowed deeper comprehension of the religion. Joseph Smith typically converted a group of people by claiming his prophesy was true. However, their struggle to survive within America caused for a deeper faith. In addition, Mormons dissimilar views allows distinct nature regarding Christians. Mormon culture includes aspect that may be unsuitable to American individual. Before watching PBS special the Mormons, personal knowledge concerning Mormon heritage was general. Generally, Joseph Smith was understandably a new age prophet to the Mormon culture. Although Joseph claimed this book was sent from God, American forcefully rejected Mormon practices. Another event taken place during joseph princes reign was polygamy. Polygamy is the process of obtain multiple spouses at once for religious reasons. Joseph Smith widely stated polygamy was the will of God. This action was established in relations to old testament biblical scriptures. These scriptures included biblical characters such as Abraham who obtained multiple wives. Joseph smith justified his actions with these old testament scriptures. Joseph Smith would also convince, women that by marring him they were establishing God’s work. That becoming married to a prophet is honorable in God’s eyes. These women were convinced that God was pleased with their behavior. Yet American did not find Joseph Smiths teaching regarding polygamy to suitable for society. Americans quickly rejected the understanding of polygamy. This concept of polygamy caused Joseph Smith to become hated by many American. In addition, many of his fallowers questioned his teachings. Nevertheless, Josephs teaching managed to still articulated into Africa. Early teaching in Africa consisted of white individuals practicing Mormon customs. However, there are distinct dissimilarities concerning both religions. Mormons believes regarding Jesus Christ are like Christian. They understand that Jesus died sinners to obtain everlasting life in heaven. They also believe water baptizing is establishes the concept of becoming born again. However, Mormons believes they may become Gods when they pass way. Whereas Christians believe they are made in Gods image. This concept introduces that Christian are more prone to God’s characteristics when seeking Jesus. In addition, Mormons understand the unity of marriage is polygamy orientated. Mormons practice multiple spouses which they believe is the will of God. Although old testament biblical doctrine describes people obtaining more than one spouse at once, Christian despise this practice. The New testament after Jesus died for sinners describes a man shall have only one wife. 1 timothy 3:2 says “Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach.” This ideal of one wife is established in the New testament after Jesus willingly gave his life.
