The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or “Mormons”, as they are more commonly called, have been around since 1830. The church was founded by a man named Joseph Smith in New York. Shortly thereafter the entire church body moved across the midwest, eventually to Missouri. It was there in Missouri where Governor Lilburn Boggs issued executive order fourty four or, as it is more commonly called, the “Extermination Order”. The Missouri executive order forty four was an order issued in 1838 by Governor Boggs, a former governor of the state of Missouri.
The Mormons were a group
Old fashioned, hand made clothing, reserved lives, playgrounds that only consist of a cement slab, and a school system that only teaches through the eighth grade are peculiar to the outside world. These oddities are just the surface of the unusual practices that take place in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. The FLDS church is one of the largest Mormon fundamentalist denominations and one of the largest organizations in the United States whose members practice polygamy. Polygamy is illegal, in 1890 the Mormon church ended its practice of polygamy, which created a split in the church. Fundamentalists moved to secluded areas where they could continue their practice of plural marriage.
Joseph Smith, the leader of the Mormons, arrived in neighboring Jackson County in 1831 with a group of his followers. They believed that they would inherit the land that was already owned by earlier settlers through righteousness. This created tension between the Mormons and the earlier arrivals, and in 1833, the Mormons were forcibly driven from Jackson County. Many relocated to Clay County and later to Caldwell County, but lasting peace was not to be achieved. In 1838, Joseph Smith and several other Mormon leaders were arrested and jailed in Liberty over the winter.
In the article “Religions: The Basics” by Malory Nye talks about female writers, inequality and the distinction between males and females. In the article it mentioned how the term Androcentricism assumes that the male’s perspective and experiences are the most vital and key point of reference. I agree with Mary Daly that the concept of belief in a male deity leads to profound sexual inequalities. The reason I agree with Mary Daly is due to the fact there is a lot of gender differences and that women are viewed as inferior, while men are more superior. It is surprising that in western culture, they can’t go a day without woman-male distinction.

When we look at the freedom we are given, we are very fortunate. Although, it has not always been that easy. In the colonial era it was very difficult to be able to choose and practice your own religion. Luckily, there were four men that strived to give the people that very freedom. Rodger Williams, William Penn, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington all believed that anyone should be able to have the freedom to choose and practice their own religion.
As a religion people work towards a goal of bettering themselves or bettering their environment. This idea can nearly be regarded as fact for some branches of religion have been around for thousands of years and have followers in every corner of the globe claiming that their ideology and faith of religion has helped them in the past and will continue to help them in the future. For cults, this goal is often illegal or immoral after all cults are almost always shrouded in mystery and details are often withheld from the public. Cults of some form or other have been around for as long as organized religion, during the first-century people of the Roman Empire began to reject Christianity because it was something new and instead valued Judaism as this had been around a long time. It was around this time that politicians began to spread vicious rumors that Christians were beginning to take part in “group sex acts” during what was called “love fests”, it was also thought that they took part in sacrificing infants to their god.
