When starting college there are many fears and one of those fears is trying to figure out how one is going to pay for the education. Whether it’s a CSU, UC, or community college school expenses for students are becoming more and more expensive. In the article “Motivating Students with Tuition Cash” it states “The expectation of a paycheck motivates many adults to work. Now, though, some educators and policy makers are wondering: Could an incentive of cash get students to perform better?’(Adams). In the long run the smart students are the ones that appreciate the most, gain more and give more to the community. Financial aid is a method of getting help with the college expenses, but not everyone gets the help. In the article, “Report: Financial Aid Fails to Reach Californians Poorest Students” states “Federal aid may be eluding tens of thousands of poor students at the nation’s largest higher education system, the California Community Colleges system, because students misunderstand the application process or simply doubt they are eligible.” It does not hurt to apply for financial aid money, it hurts more not to apply. The reality is being eligible and missing the opportunity to get money for college expenses if students drop out of school due to not receiving financial aid then it will not improve the California educational system. As a consequence the graduation rate will decrease. Although there are people who get more money than what they need and spend the money on other stuff besides school. Situations based on being able to get a class have been the cause for many students to delay from graduating in the less amount of time. Jon Marcus in the article “Despite Massive Budget Cuts, There’s a Building Boom in U.S Higher Education” says, “You can go into any community and talk to somebody whose son or daughter either can’t get in or can’t finish [college] because they can’t get this or that course”(Marcus). The schools are mainly focus on giving the campus the perfect image to attract students rather than offering them an excellent education. Students are faced with the sad truth of having to deal with financial aid problems, because at the end they rather get some money than getting no money help at all. The community colleges are supposed to be completed within two years, but now it is taking up to double the time for a student to graduate, because there are not enough spaces or classes available to them. Money has become the biggest issue to students and campuses. The simple thought of losing financial aid can lead a student to determining that college isn’t going to work out or that they can’t afford it, therefore, they will not bother to apply for it. More and more people are struggling with college expenses. There has been a delay on financial aid but in most cases the ones that complain the most about not getting the money on
