As aging young adults we start to daydream about moving out of our parents’ house. We want our own place with complete freedom and not having to hear the phrase “My house, my rules” to our faces ever again. Moving out is a big part of a young adult’s life, but moving to a completely different country is scarier than just moving across the city. The worries of being far away from loved ones and struggling to find a job can become daunting. Our northern neighbor, Canada, seems like the best place to choose since it is within the same continent, but still contains foreign influences.
Like any big decision in one’s life, one has to plan ahead and prepare adequately. Moving to Canada from the U.S would require one to either fly there or drive there depending on the amount of belongings that are taken. If the cool climate is more of one’s liking, then practically any city will be a safe choice. If the cold weather is not one’s cup of tea, then one might choose a southern province or maybe one on either coast. Although a large part of the Canadian society speaks English, one has to remember that there are certain areas that still use French or their native language as a form of communication. Taking a couple of French lessons beforehand can be very beneficial depending on the location one wishes to reside in. This decision will be heavily influenced by one’s desire to live closer to a city or in one of the various rural areas found across each province.
