Moving To Alabama Personal Narrative

In early August of 2009, I embarked on a long drive from the beautiful state of Virginia to the more homey state of Alabama. My grandfather, Benjie Norris, had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was given months to survive. My mother had been traveling back and forth from Virginia to Alabama, so it was decided that the family should go on and move to
Alabama in order to be closer to family. Being only a sixth grader, it was hard to grasp the concept of moving to an unfamiliar place. Moving to Alabama has been a beneficial life experience thanks to family, friends, and strong spiritual atmosphere of the area. Family is a bond that holds all things together. Starting a new school can be described best as terrifying. I was expected to not only start a new school, but also make new friends and try my best to fit in. It was decided that my siblings and I would attend a private christian academy in order to have a more spiritually focused aspect of education. After attending the first school for a few years, it was decided to switch schools and attend the school I am currently at. This decision was based on the fact that the spiritual environment would be much stronger, as well as teachers who shared more values in his or her spiritual walk. The spiritual atmosphere is of the most importance when considering a new place to live, a new school to attend, and a new church family. Moving from the modestly liberal state of
Virginia to Madison, Alabama, it made the search for a strong spiritual environment very easily accessible.
