At the beginning of A Christmas Carol,Scrooge is mean,selfish,and greedy. He is mean, because on pg.9, he never donates to the poor,and he always yells at little kids. Scrooge is also selfish because on pg.12, he never pays a day wages for no work. They say “it's a poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of december!”Also,another word is he is greedy,on pg.17, says he is caustic and cold as ever and never gave anything to anyone. He said “what do you want with me.
I will explain in detail to you about what happens to Ebenezer Scrooge, supernatural experiences, and how his character transforms throughout the play “A Christmas Carol” by Israel Horovitz. Scrooge is a very rude, lonely, and covetous character, he is also described as a miser. Scrooge is so greedy that he even says that the poor deserve nothing but only to die due to the surplus population. (Page 241, paragraph 59) He is rude to his clerk Bob Cratchit, his nephew, and basically everyone around him.
When Scrooge looks at his past he gets a tear on his cheek. When the ghost took him to his school, Scrooge starts to become sad. When his Sister picks him up from school he realizes his father doesn’t actually hate him. Scrooge realizes how bad he treated people when he was at the Fezzywig’s. When the Ghost of Christmas past comes to visit Scrooge, Scrooge gets emotional.
First scrooge is a cold hearted business man that only cares about money. If people ask him if he will donate money to the poor he tells them to go die to decrease the population. And he will not even give money to his own family because of how greedy he is. Scrooge's old business partner Marley died 7 years ago on christmas. But then he came back as a ghost to warn him that if he keeps being mean and greedy when he dies he will end up like marley.
Scrooge is greedy and denies donating to the poor and needy, leaving them to grow sick and cold and die. Jimmy cracks safes and steals hundreds of dollars from people. But, another character brought about a change to the main characters, turning them from careless and rude people to thoughtful and kind people. In A Christmas Carol, it says, “Scrooge. By looking back on his past makes Scrooge realize why he truly hates Christmas time. It is because his lover, Belle, left him for money. This ironically parallels Scrooge’s future with love ones. He pushes others away and even holds back money from his own family. The Ghost of Christmas Present just makes Scrooge worse, by showing that his actions are slowly killing Bob Cratchit and the rest of his family.
Scrooge had a sister named fan, she and scrooge were left alone to care for them selves. Scrooge bonded with her and when she died on Christmas scrooge would remember that day forever. Scrooge also fell in love with a young woman named belle. He proposed and she accepted it, but when he got greedy she left him. Scrooge thought by making lots of money he could live comfortably but that just made him even more greedy.
Scrooge in "The Christmas Carol" shows how much he hates Christmas, and everyone he works with to change to a happy person with the help of others. Scrooge emphasizes, "What a fine day fellow... An Intelligent boy, a remarkable boy. " This is a critical part of this novel because this shows Scrooge overcame his dislike of Christmas and his entire disliking of people. Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature.
He is very lonely and is unloved by most people. He is very rude to everyone. Even his own nephew. In the movie there are 3 spirits who come and visit Mr.Scrooge. First comes the spirit of Christmas Past.
Scrooge is actually happy at this time. The Spirit finally takes him to his worst nightmare. she takes him to the exact moment when Ebenezer’s girlfriend releases him. On a Christmas eve, Scrooge(whose father has died and now he has finally made his fortune) comes home from work and finds his girlfriend at the park on a bench. His girlfriend sadly goes off about how he never has time for her and his thoughts had been consumed by money.
The first scene the old man is taken to is his school. During Christmastime, Scrooge was left alone at school without any family to come home to because his father held a grudge against him. After watching how his younger self saw the character in his book “come to life,” Scrooge states, “There was a boy singing a Christmas Carol at my door last night. I should have given him something.” Soon after, Scrooge sees his sister, Fan come to greet him.
He realizes that just because they don’t have a job or make a lot of money, they still contribute to the world in their own way. Scrooge is learning how to move past materialistic things and see people for who they really are. The teachings of the Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge the true meaning of the spirit of
both film and play show scenes with people selling, buying, and trading his old possessions. Scrooge realizes that if he doesn’t change his ways, he is going to end up like his selfish, greedy business partner, Jacob Marley, unloved, uncared for, and forgotten. When Scrooge awakes from his night of horrors, he immediately sends someone to buy the largest turkey for the Cratchit household, gives a hearty donation to a charity, and attends his nephew's Christmas party, in an attempt to reconcile with everybody to save his spirit. Both versions show Scrooge as a heartless man who cannot see his wrongdoings, but after a visit from his old business partner and a couple spirits, he finally learns a valuable lesson that teaches us
