It began with a squeak. The squeak of a pair of shoes that at any moment she turned around, they would be gone. That was just the start of her descent into madness. Next, she would feel the soft touch of hands on her shoulder when walking home after cheerleading practice. It would squeeze and release with its paralysing bite, then slither away to the sound of squeaking feet. The darkness consumed her with she sank to the ground, unable to go on home. Williams takes the paper, looks, and sighs. He wishes he could do more for his daughter. He picks her up out of his wife’s lap, and carries her to the door. She was finally asleep. Her mother had wiped away her makeup away,and she still had the beanie the nurse gave her. He smiled awkwardly, because he remember the day her first saw her, asleep, fresh-faced, and had a pinky beanie on just like this. He sees his wife in a hospital robe, holding baby Jessica.
