Did Mrs Thatcher‟s terms in office alter the decline in British power and prestige?

Great Britain as probably one of the most influential state in the modern history has always represented major power on the international relations. Margaret Thatcher as the first female prime minister had a very strong legacy which still divides the public. In this essay I am going to argue that Margaret Thatcher altered the British power and prestige to a certain extent and it was a high point in the American and British relationship in the XX. century. Mrs Thatcher wanted to restore the British prestige in the world politics. However, as Great Britain was no longer a major superpower, I believe she represented the Western response and tried to improve the US- UK relationship.Thatcher's statesmanship was different than the previous Prime Ministers, her approach reflected her personality.
