There are tons upon tons of symbolic items in the story. As it says in How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster, symbols don’t just have to have a single meaning. The Hound in “Fahrenheit 451” can be portrayed with several different meanings, such as the control of the government through technology or it could be seen as the “watchdog of society.” There are so many cases of symbolism in the story that it just seems selfish to limit them to one meaning. Another important thing that the passage by Foster, is that if a symbol can only be reduced into meaning one thing, then it's not a symbol at all.
Depending how far revenge goes the person can stray off the right path. The sane motive for people who act on revenge doesn't have a true purpose behind it. For explain, in the monster’s case he hates that fact he was brought to life so because of that he will kill everyone his creator loves. The pursuit is extreme compared to have Victor did.

Revenge: A Narrative and Scientific Perspective Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado” and Browning’s “My Last Duchess” both revolve around revenge. We are introduced to men who swear vengeance on other characters. Yet, the mindsets of these men are, in some aspects, very different. To truly comprehend a story, we have to understand why authors make their characters behave the way they do in addition to the message being presented. In the case of “The Cask of Amontillado” and “My Last Duchess,” why do both narrators believe murder is totally necessary?
A desire for vengeance brings about many of the conflicts that drive the plot in Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur. Sir Gawain in particular stirs up a lot of drama with his endless quarrel with Sir Launcelot. The knights of the round table are seemingly infatuated with the concept of seeking revenge on behalf of their brothers and comrades, but could this infatuation be more harmful than honorable? Perhaps the knights would have been better off without such vengeful inclinations behind their actions.
He believed that the deaths of others might help his motives. Macbeth states, “ And on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood… Now o’er the one half world nature seems dead, and wicked dreams abused the curtained sleep” (Act I, Scene 1, Lines 31-65). In this quote we see evidence of Macbeth's motive in killing the king. His goal was to become king, and by killing the current king, he believed he would accomplish his wish to become king himself.
If you’ve read Edgar Allen Poe’s short story The Cask of Amontillado, you know how evil the protagonist, Montresor, is. He expertly carried out a disturbing scheme that left a man buried alive in the deepest part of the Montresor catacombs to die and rot, all for the sake of revenge. We know that Montresor is a very dark and disturbing character, as his own personality was based off of Poe’s. There is no doubt that Montresor committed a heinous crime of which would not be excused in today’s world. However, there are several quotes and pieces of textual evidence to suggest that Montresor might have done the people a favor by killing the not-so-fortunate “fortunate one.”

Revenge strips men of their morality by causing them to see another person as an object for their torment. In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, Roger Chillingworth’s vengeance consumes him and it becomes his life’s goal to torture his adversary. Chillingworth is the worst sinner because he seeks to end Dimmesdale, lies to maintain his sinful scheme, and never admits his wrongdoing.
Darkness can be seen in many literary works with the intention of showing a turn for the worse in many characters lives. In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare displays examples of violence in order to show audience members how Macbeth’s desire for kingship, led to his demise through his guilt. The use of blood, nature and supernatural elements are used as a way of symbolizing Shakespeare's theme of Macbeth’s guilt. Is one man’s desire for nobility worth the cost of others lives? Blood alters the atmosphere throughout Macbeth through the effect it has on the main character.
Revenge is a real thing in today’s society. It happens every day. There are different reasons for revenge from as small, as a small child stealing a stick of gum to a drug dealer murdering a nark. Regardless, taking revenge in itself may be for the greater good, or evil.
We have been taught that to hate is wrong, and revenge can have a strong relation to hatefulness. Revenge is a root of evil of someone that feels that they have been wronged. Throughout the novel it gives multiple examples of the toll it has on people 's emotional and physical being. For instance, murder would be an example of a dark, uncharastic type of revenge, Murder, for example, is a strong element in this novel, begging readers to pursue the ethics and myriad questions behind the action. Is there such a thing as a "philosophy of murder" or a rationale behind murder?
Macbeth shows that he is willing to kill King Duncan because he is interested in the witches prophecy, after they tell him that he will become ‘Thane of Cawdor’ and then the King.
Hamlet features several acts of cruelty that lead to many of the events that occur. The meaning of cruelty throughout the play suggests that cruelty does not do good towards anybody and only has negative effects. The characters help portray this by their actions and immediate reactions. Cruelty leads to the downfall of each character. Cruelty is first shown by Hamlet, who has just returned from England.
