There are tons upon tons of symbolic items in the story. As it says in How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster, symbols don’t just have to have a single meaning. The Hound in “Fahrenheit 451” can be portrayed with several different meanings, such as the control of the government through technology or it could be seen as the “watchdog of society.” There are so many cases of symbolism in the story that it just seems selfish to limit them to one meaning.
