On December 3rd I visited the Perez Art Museum Miami. Happily overwhelmed by their spacious green areas, I emerged myself into their brand new exhibition: "Form Into Action by Julioa Le Parc. This exhibit opened on November 19, 2016 to delight PAMM's visitors with over 100 art works created by Le Parc between 1959 and 2013. Le Parc, an 88 years old Argentinean based on Paris, is characterized for his use of kinetic art and relief on his art works. "Continuel Mobile” also known as "Sphère Rough"was one of Le Parc's works of art that called visitors attention. "Continuel Mobile - Sphère Rough" is an extremely large sphere (Approximately 5 meters in diameter). It is comprised of hundreds of red semi-translucent 2 dimensional square-shaped pieces, which are strung together by threads. Keeping in mind that Le Parc is a kinetic artist, we are reminded that art is a living thing that moves. The term kinetic, defined as “of, relating to, or resulting from motion” really captures that idea that art cannot be appreciated in a snapshot but rather, it must be experienced over a period of time. The overall exhibit contains over 100 art works created by Le Parc between 1959 and 2013, and takes you through a journey. The theme contrasts greatly with the feel of the outside of the museum, which is picturesque, bright and contains outdoor elements. The experience goes from a brighter and well-lit area to a progressively darker and more dynamic atmosphere. This caused me to mentally retract from the “regular world” which was drowned out by an increasing focus on the art pieces themselves as they came to life in the center of my focus.
