The debate heats up more than ever when it comes to discussion about Muslim minorities living in Western countries. Today about 35% to 40% of the Muslim population lives outside Muslim World, which is a sizeable minority by any measures. It is not a new phenomenon as Muslim community always have tendency to explore new places and migration is something very sacred in their psyche. Islam’s universal message pushed them to explore new possibilities when it comes to settling away form their native place. The earliest known Muslim community had migrated to Ethiopia to save itself from persecution, was the first of its kind to migrate to a foreign land.

To many Europeans critics ; european governments have allowed excessive immigration without much integration – a mismatch that has paved the way for erosion of cohesive society. Thus lack of integration of Muslim communities have gone on to undermine European nationalism and identities creating social fissures and mutual distrust between the communities.
Luckily, however, there are proponents of the ‘Multiculturalim’, who cite excessive racism is troublesome and not the excessive diversity. But the truth is very elusive in the matter and is somewhere between the complexities of both ends of the divisive ends. While the debate turns into sophistry, in reality ‘Multiculturalism’ is turned into proxy for various social and political issues, e.g., decline of working class, political disenchantment, immigration, identity, etc.
