Recommended: Theory of natural selection

Mutation will not generate a new species in microevolution. Mutation is a change in nucleotide sequence of the genome of an organism, or chromosomal DNA or other genetic elements. Mutation occur when old alleles is changed into new alleles. This could occurred at two levels either in genetic levels or chromosomal levels. Since all cells in our body contain genetic materials, there are lots of places for mutations to occur. Somatic mutations occur in non-reproductive cells and will not be passed onto offspring. Mutation is the source to genetic variation in organisms. When genetic variation is present, there are chance for evolution to occur. There are many reason which led to mutation, it can be caused by exposure to specific chemicals or radiation. …show more content…

The selection of fittest is through natural selection or artificial selection which the strongest will survive. In the movie, Magneto had chosen to leave Mystique when she reverted back to her original state as Magneto knows that it will be less beneficial to keep her as she lost all her super power, she is just a normal human being which cannot help him much during battle. Artificial selection is the weeding out of organisms by human for human purposes like suit human needs. Long before Darwin and Wallace on theory of evolutions, farmers and breeders were using the idea of selection to cause major changes in the features of their plants and animals. Farmers and breeders allowed only the plants and animals with desirable characteristics to reproduce, causing the evolution of farm stock. This process is called artificial selection because people select which organisms get to reproduce. On the other hand, when Washington lab create an antibody, it is to prevent the over power of mutants as mutants in X-men can survive much longer than normal human being as they are more superior. This can be relating to natural selection as if they do not create such antibody, the mutants might able to survive and reproduce in a longer period of time compared to human race.
