SESSION ONE -WRITING ASSESSMENT2Session One -Writing AssessmentTransferring from a community college to Colorado Christian University at the age of fifty might seem to some an act of courage, while to others it might be sheer lunacy. What brought me here, the wins and the losses, have shaped me into who I am in my career and my ministry and my walk with Christ. In the Your Movevideo, Pastor Andy Stanley asks the question “What is the wise thing for me to do?”, and then he expands thequestion with the qualifiers of past experience, current circumstances, and future hopes and

If each one of us stopped and thought about our actions in light of ourpast experiences, we might not repeat our mistakes. Might not is the key phrase. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus is speaking to his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane, and he tells them to “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. Being a student at my age presents its own set of challenges. I am working full time, and have a seventy-eight-year-old mother with whom I live. I am the Awana ministries director at my church, as well as the church clerk. Learning to juggle everything, while attempting to find balance and stayon track with my classes is difficult at times. Difficult, but worth it. I believe that I appreciate my education more now because I am invested in it; emotionally, spiritually and financially. Have a learned from my past experiences? Yes! Do I want to repeat any of the failures? No, thank you! For now, I am excited to see how the Lord is going to stretch me and use me over the course of this
