My Family Genogram Analysis

My family is a combination of an extended and blended family. It consists of blood members, in laws and step father and sister. I believe a family is a unit where love, trust and support permeates through. A family is a unit where even though there are hardships, everyone still shows compassion towards one another and are there for one another. In my family, we all share responsibility and spend quality time with each other. In my genogram, I started with my grandfather and my grandmother on my mother side. I did not include my father’s parents because I did not have a close relationship with them as a child growing up and neither did my father. Both of my grandparents have passed away which is why I used an “X” in their symbols. My grandfather, Joe, died of an ulcerated stomach. He was found dead in his bathroom tub. Although my grandfather, died before I was born, I was very close to my grandmother. My grandmother, Rosaline, would take me where ever I wanted to go. I would even call her mommy instead of grandma. My grandma taught me everything I needed to know as a child growing. Therefore, I saw it fit to include her into my genogram. In 2006, she died from kidney failure that was a result from her having diabetes. I used a symbol to represent diabetes. I still remember the day because I talked to her …show more content…

My father was a musician from an early age and plays in a band called Burning Flames which has been around for over 20 years. They had two children myself and my sister Araby. I also grouped my parent’s children from oldest on the left to youngest on the right. I used two green lines to show the relationship between me and my sister. Our relationship is one of a kind. We are very close and I believe that we are best friends. This was not always true however. Growing up my sister, did not like me because I would always tell on her.
