I was sitting on the white tiled and shiny floor staring at the white door with the black speckles on it. The only thought that was running through my head, was why? Why had this happened now when he was perfectly fine?
My Grandpa has always had three qualities that stuck out to me, how he was so strong, caring, and selfless, but before I could realize those qualities’, an event made me realize how special he was.
This was now my grandpa’s third time in the hospital. He had fought through three aneurysm’s also brain cancer where he was currently in rehab at Mary Free Bed. We had gone up to the hospital that afternoon to visit him. He talked about how in one week he was out and was certainly excited to be healthy and get back to living a normal life. Through about one year in the hospital, my grandpa managed pushing through all his sickness, while also keeping in touch and keeping his family happy, which made him a very strong person.
In many ways, my grandpa was caring for us also, when he had my brother and I stay with them over the weekends. He would always make sure we had everything we needed and most of all made sure we were happy. If we got bored, he always had a solution sometimes it was going outside and we would go look at his garden or climb up in the trees. Every Sunday morning, my brother, my grandpa, and I would go get donuts. Eventually the people there started to know us because we went every Sunday. Every time we saw my grandpa, the two questions that were always asked, “How’s school? How’s your sports?”
After the two questions, regular conversation continued showing my grandpa not only cared about us having fun, but also about grades, family and any other issues we had. He just wanted to make sure we were
