My interest in criminal justice started when I was a little kid. I would sit on the couch with my grandmother and watch unsolved mysteries; we would see who could figure out who was the criminal first. As the years past, I continued to read novels about criminals who were never caught, watch true documentaries about crime scenes, and learn about the way criminals think, work and act. As I grew older my interest thrived even more. I soon started to research about this career that I could possibly one day succeed in.
Criminal justice focuses on the causes, definitions, and prevention of a crime. It also goes through a legal process for criminals and how they might get help. I may not become a millionaire from the specific job I choose, but I will be comfortable with my salary and confident in my work study. This profession can be a dangerous and stressful one, but the feeling of doing good things for your community and for the individuals is one that most professions enjoy. The benefits of having a degree give me more of a chance to get a job straight out of college more than a person with no degree. As with any other industry or profession, as you move up in the ranks and earn more experience and further your education, your earning potential will increase accordingly and provide you with more options.
I plan to achieve my childhood profession by going to Fairmont State University and getting my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I will stay on campus for a year, then I will get my own apartment. While I am in school, I will have a half time job helping me pay for school, books and other necessities. After I graduate from Fairmont, I plan to leave my home state of West Virginia and see what jobs will be available to me away from
