Today we are here to remember a man, a very special man. He was a salesman, a husband and most importantly my Pop. My Pop was a man who had big dreams, and sometimes they were out of his reach. At points in his life he never who he was. He had a great imagination. He always imagined that we were better than we were. Pop said “ If you are well-liked you will make it in life.”
You were the biggest supporter of Happy and I. I may have never lived out the dream you had for me, but my wish now is for you to see that the salesman life isn’t for me. You know my passion for the outdoors, and life as a farmer gives me the same happiness the sales life gave you. I’m sorry Pop but you had all the wrong dreams for me.
To Charley, my Pop always admired you. As we know at times he could be jealous. He wanted to be as successful as you. I know what you did for my Pop. Thank you for helping him and my family. Charley you once told me “ Nobody dast blame this man. You don’t understand: Willy was a salesman. And for a salesman, there’s no rock bottom to life”. When I spent time with him he would still talk about you. He was so proud of you. I have to thank you. When my relationship with Pop got rough, you helped hold us together. It’s because of you that I do not regret my whole life. In Pop’s last days our relationship was better than it has been our whole lives. You are now going to make him proud, carrying on in the business world is exactly what he wanted for us. You are going to live out the dream he had for us both, to be successful in business.
