In the book, My Side of the Mountain, there are many conflicts in it. They include a boy who lives in the woods and survives on his own. One of the conflicts is about an old lady and strawberries. This conflict happens when Sam is making his bed. This conflict makes me think about how Sam handled the conflict, how I would have handled it, and how God would have handled it. Sam’s way of handling the conflict can be backed up with the text from the book many times. Sam handled the conflict by answering her questions, obeying her, and going along with her. He was hesitant and probably felt nervous. “‘Well come on,’ she said, ‘make some use of yourself and help me fill this basket with strawberries.’” (pg.38, para.9) This quote talks about an old lady who most likely wanted help picking strawberries. ”Frankly, I was wondering how to save my precious, precious strawberries, and I may say I picked slowly.” (p.39, para.2) This next quote explains that Sam was probably nervous and frantic, and that he …show more content…
He would build relationships with people that He meets. For example, when Sam met the old lady, he could have made friends with her and ask if she needed help, instead of being quiet and acting like he didn’t want to help her. If Sam had done God’s way, the lady could have visited more often to bring supplies and be conversational with Sam. Sam could have also helped the lady pick strawberries and be escorted down the mountain. He could have helped Mr. Jacket by becoming close friends at once when they first met. They could have visited each other more often and have “get to know you” conversations, if he had followed God’s way. God probably would have referred to Proverbs 17: 17a, which was written by Solomon. It says, ”A friend loves at all times.” Sam and I could have applied that verse by being a friend who loves others at all times and cares for people.
