Introduction “I think it's important for us as a society to remember that the youth within juvenile justice systems are, most of the time, youths who simply haven't had the right mentors and supporters around them because of circumstances beyond their control.” (Q’orianka Kilcher 1). My Story Starts Here is about different stories from youth criminals. Although they all have different stories, there is one common denominator. Parents have an impact on youth crime. Connection To Book This book shows that if you care for your children and help them, we can resolve the problems of youth crime. Being around your parents' relationships sets a standard that you will follow which shows that your parents and environment affect you, especially as a child. The child may also develop low self-esteem and may lack social skills. Children rejected by parents are among the most likely to become delinquent. On the other hand, when the parent has no parenting habits, it forces the child to get to know the world on their own.
