A person can try to do good and be good, but one’s circumstances can make that difficult. Sometimes crimes aren’t as simple as black and white; they did a bad thing; therefore, they are a bad person. Life happens, some are born into a prosperous life, while others perish in their circumstances. Brain development isn’t the sole reason for an adolescent's actions or behaviors, but an explanation as to why they do the things they do. Even with that, many other factors can lead to certain behaviors. For example, Jenkins illuminates that there is a “violence-loving culture in which we raise them. no juvenile crime until the introduction of television into their culture”. Adult prisons are typically known for their violence, inhibiting that type of environment will cause more harm than good.
