In Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths by Bernard Evslin, Jealousy is a characteristic that all the gods have. They usually can't contain their jealousy and that leads them to do bad things, like killing or punishing people. One god is actually known for being full of envy, her name is Hera. Zeus is always having affairs and not being faithful to his wife, Hera. Because of Zeus’s infedelities, Hera always watches out for him and she can never stop being jealous.
Heroes, Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths, a novel by Bernard Evslin, retells short stories of the most famous gods and monsters of Greek Mythology. Evslin creates a simplistic way for the reader to understand more about these myths, through short story telling. Each god and monster is given their own chapter, and are explained thoroughly, but simplistically to help the reader understand these stories better. Evslin’s method of storytelling was effective and the way each story connected made it an easy and enjoyable read. I found it helpful that each piece was told through a maximum of about six pages.
Zeus was king of all Gods, the god of the sky and ruler of the justice system. He overthrew his father, Cronus, and then drew lots with his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, in order to decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of the gods. As the father of the gods, Zeus ascertained that each deity fulfill their duties, punished their misdeeds, settled their disputes, and acted towards them on all occasions as their all-knowing counsellor and mighty friend. He was the god of the sky and it is rumored that he would change the weather with his moods.
Many know about the idea of the "monomyth," or the hero's journey as an outline for many of our modern books, movies, t.v. series, etc. Joseph Campbell's definition for the hero's journey is, "the quintessential (or best example) of an archetypal myth. " The Disney film Hercules is one of the best examples of Joseph Campbell's monomyth. For instance step one of the hero's journey outline is the Ordinary world. Hercules was born the son to Zeus and Hero.
Zues is my favorite greek god because he has 4 brothers and sisters. The brothers and sisters names are posedian,hades,hestia,hera. He has A wife named hera and a mother named rhea anda fauther named cronus. His chrildren are Aeacus, Angelos, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Eileithyia, Enyo, Eris, Ersa, Hebe, Helen of Troy, Hephaestus, Heracles, Hermes, Minos, Pandia, Persephone, Perseus, Rhadamanthus, the Graces, the Horae, the Litae, the Muses, the Moirai. I mostly like zues because ZEUS was the king of the gods, and god of the sky, weather, fate and law.
In Bernard Evslin’s Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths, the story of Eros and Psyche teaches the Greeks the importance of trusting others which is shown through Psyche’s mistrust and plot to see her husband. Eros, the God of love, devotes himself to his mother Aphrodite and his father either Hermes or Ares. He embodies his Roman name of Cupid because he shoots arrows to make people fall in love with the next person they lay their eyes upon. To do his job he relies on his ability to fly which makes it easier for him to strike people with his arrows. Based on his job, the symbols of a bow and arrow and hearts suit him.
Mythologies, although depicted in different ways, are a part of every culture. Every mythology has stories of their heroes and how they came to be. Usually heroes come into this world unnaturally and strangely. Heroes have their tales of incredible quests they are sent on, like fighting horrific monsters and solving complex puzzles. Eventually heroes die, whether out of heroism or stupidity.
The Olympian gods are much of a family; they are all related in some way. Zeus was well known for being a father to the gods. He had fathered many children to many different women. The story of Zeus was a story based on the uprising of a son against the wrongdoings of his father. Zeus was the son of Cronus, supreme leader of the universe, and Rhea (Parada).
In The House on Mango Street, it shows how a young girl growing up in a rough neighborhood learns to adapt to the lifestyles of her community. Throughout the vignettes, Esperanza tells her story, she explains the hardships, the good times, and all the struggles she has faced growing up. Sandra Cisneros utilizes Esperanza’s development through the story emphasizing how society affects a child losing its innocence. The first example from the vignette “The Family of Little Feet”, Esperanza writes about a family with tiny feet the woman passes down her shoes, and with excitement they try them on and walk around, “Do you want this?
People are not just given the name "hero"; that name is earned by doing something heroic in life. An example of an epic hero is Hercules. Hercules was once an immortal god. He was the last son of Zeus and became mortal. Hercules was known as the strongest mortal and is even stronger than some gods.
To the ancient Greek civilization before there were men, there were gods. There are twelve major gods and they are The Olympians. The twelve olympians are; Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Dionysus. In this paper i also mention the god Hades, although he is not an olympian he is still one of the most powerful gods and the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. It is to important to understand Greek mythology because, it's what the greeks believed, the background of human beings.
Hercules the noble teen ? Or a murderer ? Hercules was known for being a hero in the movie, but a murderer in the Myth. Hercules shows that he is a hero through the task he completes in the movie and the Myth. The different archetypes show that Hercules is two different characters in the movie and the myth.

They can also be heroes. This is an essay of an Olympian god. This Greek god is named Poseidon. Poseidon is a very powerful god that has a large family, a messed up childhood as well as a long history, and had many symbols for himself.

Myths were used by Greeks to make justifications of every existing aspect of earth as well as their own society. In myths, Greek gods & heroes often represented key aspects of the human civilization. From Greek mythology, we can learn about the favorable characteristics of humans, such as their behavior and valuable skills that were approved of by the ancient Greek society.
