When trying to understand the details that produce any final result, the truth of the matter can be messy, complicated, and sometimes unclear. In most cases, there is not any one thing that caused a downward spiral or an upward shot, but rather a sequence of events, a plethora of circumstances, and a wide variety of people.
It can be frustrating and perhaps confusing when choosing a childhood program for your child. There are so many aspects of a school to consider such as the environment, the teachers and staff, the children, the philosophy, and the community. As parents, you want to pick the perfect facility. A facility that you know will be the most beneficial and supportive for your child. Luckily, the NAEYC provides us with wonderful guidelines in order to guarantee that you are picking best program for children.
The NASW Code of Ethics guides social work practice to empower those individuals who are oppressed, vulnerable, and living in low socioeconomic status. An ethical consideration that must be addressed in this case, is “1.07 privacy and confidentiality and 1.03 informed consent” from the NASW Code of Ethics. As a social work intern at an outpatient substance abuse treatment agency, the issue arises when writing monthly reports to probation officers. The client has signed all necessary forms for the agency and it is the social worker’s role not to disclose information without a valid consent from the client.

The organization that I have chosen that is relevant to social work, and is aligned with social work values as articulated by the NASW Code of Ethics is The Department of Children Protection and Permanency (DCPP). The DCPP is New Jersey’s child protection and welfare agency, who assist children and their families who may be struggling. The DCPP provides safety, well-being and the success of children, adolescents, families, and communities. The DCPP helps parents get engaged with services that address the issues they may be facing that allowed for the division’s involvement. The DCPP is responsible for investigating any allegations of child abuse or neglect, and if it is necessary then arranging for the child’s protection, and the family’s treatment.
Thus, I could potentially go against rather than support the value of the importance of human relationships by refusing to disclose a client’s confidential information. Conversely, a third option would be to state that multiple families at Dickinson Academy are struggling to access affordable housing and suggest that we work together to develop a centralized fund to support the basic needs of all the homeless families, but the student and his family would not receive the full donation being offered. The interviewee has experienced a few ethical dilemmas at the agency such as struggling with what things should she keep confidential between her and a student and what things should she disclose to administrators at the school because of the severity of the information disclosed by the student. The NASW Code of Ethics has helped tremendously in addressing ethical concerns because it governs her as a social worker and is something she goes back to because it keeps her accountable. A positive perception towards a career is vital in the success achieved in that career choice. The interviewee believes that having a career in social work has met her expectations. The interviewee stated in the interview that there is a gap between hands on experience in social work education and social work experience because of the amount of time spent in the classroom that outweighs time spent outside the classroom experiencing social work.

The NASW Code of Ethics is a tool that every social worker is supposed to use and abide by to help them perform their job to the best of their ability. It is composed of four sections the Preamble, the Purpose of the NASW Code of Ethics, Ethical Principles, and Ethical Standards. One particular part that impacted me was section six.
