Nail fungus occurs mostly in toes, and the reason is your feet are mostly covered in shoes all day or sometimes moisturiser gets trapped inside toenails; this is why it mostly affects toenails and results in fungal infection in the nails. In some cases the nail fungus affects your nails badly and causes discolouration of the nail that results in pain and itching, and in some cases surgical removal of the nails is required to deal with nail fungus.
Nail fungus is also caused due to poor foot hygiene. You should always wash your feet with soap and water, after removing your shoes and socks or whenever you have been outdoors to play or been to the market wearing your flip flops or sandals. It is antifungal and antibacterial. Massage your nails with warm castor oil two times a day to treat nail fungus. Soak cotton ball or facial tissue in castor oil, place it on the nail and secure it with surgical tape.
Leave it on overnight. This home remedy is very effective and you should do it till you get the desired result. Castor oil helps to strengthen the nails and it also promotes nail growth.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid. It helps to fight the bacteria, relieves itching and heals the affected areas. Dip cotton swab in apple cider vinegar and place it between your toes for immediate relief.
If you find it too strong then you can dilute it in olive oil by taking equal parts of both the ingredients. You can soak your feet or hands in a solution of warm water and apple cider vinegar to treat nail fungus.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is antifungal and it helps to cure nail fungus. Apply a few drops of tea tree oil on infected nails directly and cover it with a gauge. You may dilute tea tree oil with base oil like coconut oil or vegetable oil and then use it to reduce the strength of essential oil.
