Napoleon Bonaparte born August 15, 1769 became not only one of the greatest military leaders in the world but also became one of the most influential people in history because be recognized early on the importance of public perception through the use of education, fine arts, and the press. Napoleon Bonaparte grew up on the island of Corsica and spoke Corsican. As a young boy Napoleon showed very early on that he was a born leader. Napoleon’s father wanted to enroll him in school, but before he could, Napoleon had to learn French. Finally, at the age of nine Napoleon’s father enrolled him in school in Autun, France. When he enrolled Napoleon, his French wasn’t perfect. Napoleon spoke French in a Corsican accent. While attending Brianne, Napoleon was not only relentlessly taunted by other students for his rough Corsican accent but he was also treated badly by other French students because they didn’t believe he was a true Frenchman. Due to the harsh treatment from the other students, Napoleon became not only an outsider and kept to himself but he also became very resentful of how they treated him and because of it, wanted to be better than his classmates. So Napoleon threw himself into his studies reading everything he could find. He researched books on French literature, Plato, history, military campaigns and Aristotle and other subjects. He became so obsessed with wanting to be better than the other students that he studied every moment that he could find. He studied before school, after school, Holidays and even in the bath tub. In addition, to being a fine student, Napoleon was also a brilliant mathematician.
