Vortex Springs A place I visited awhile back was Vortex Springs. It was located in Ponce de Leon, Florida and it is a state park. My friends invited me to come support a friend that was going to be in a concert that night and I am glad I took that offer because Vortex Springs is a beautiful place. When we first arrived it was so hot it felt like it was going to scorch me if I stayed in the sun for too long. There was already loud noises going on, people swimming, and even diving. We got there early so we could swim and do other things that were available and to my surprise they had a zip line that went over the water. Only did I notice after they dived in and didn’t come back up for a while that they were divers. I was intrigued about diving because I always wanted to go in scuba gear and go underwater. I also thought why they would dive in this pond at the deep end. It couldn’t have been that deep as I thought, but I was dead wrong. As we were finishing up swimming we decided to go into the store they had on site for some snacks. This store looked old, because it seemed to have faded orange on the outside. Inside the store it was clean, but some of the product they had was terrible. The jerky my friends bought seemed old and even when he bit into it, it was hard and just disgusting. What grabbed my interest the most as we were inside was the miniature model of the pond and this was when I knew why divers come to Vortex Springs. The pond was just a regular pond, it had a cave in the deep end! I asked if I would be able to scuba dive, but I was told only certified divers were only able to go in unless I had a trainer. After all this we went exploring around Vortex Springs to see what else they had to offer. There was camping spots with these tall trees that gave great shading and made it a great spot to camp out at. There was a nature trail that was nice, but I felt like something was lacking.
