Hello readers, my book for this blog is Took by Mary Downing Hahn. This book is a mystery of the old cabin in the woods where Old Auntie lives. I am going to talk about the resolution of how Daniel will save Erica from Old Auntie. In the beginning, Daniel needed to find away to get Erica back home from Old Auntie.
The main character of the book, Allison Mackenzie, came from a middle-class family that owned a home off Chestnut Street. Her mother, Constance, owned a shop in town called the Thrifty Corner Apparel Shoppe. Allison was born out of wedlock and her father was out of the picture. Constance was ashamed of this fact and hide her secret past from society. The situation surrounding Allison was an example of the time period’s denial of family dysfunction.

The book is about the tragic murder of the Clutter family. The parents Herb and Bonnie and teens Keyon and Nancy who all lived on their farm in Holcomb, Kansas. The narrator describes the Clutters life through the events of their last day alive. Perry Smith and Dick Hickock murder the family late that night. They flee after the murder and make it to Mexico.

Each character has experiences hardships in their life that have left them feeling isolated and alone. Some similarities include family members passing away, parents leaving, and abuse. However, as the novel progresses, the characters begin to realize that they are not alone in their struggles. They form connections with one another and find strength in their shared experiences. Daniel Gonzales loses his brother, Manny, through drug violence but his friends Calvin and Charles Johnson show they care and connect by losing someone important.
