The book The Cellar by Natasha Preston is an interesting thriller that accurately depicts the goals of insane people. In the book, a thirty-year-old man named Colin Brown, who suffered from schizophrenia, kidnapped multiple girls. He went as far as changing their names to better fit how he viewed them. He wanted the perfect family, and he had plans to make that dream come true. The antagonist, Colin Brown, is heavily motivated by his goals. Colin kidnapped four girls to fit his dream of having the perfect family. The author writes, “Nature is beautiful and clean. This supports my premise because the quote explains how he kidnapped someone to make them part of a perfect family. Colin is motivated by his goals of having a family and he shows this by committing crimes due to his obsession with having a perfect family. Colin believed that women who cheated were better off dead and that they made the world impure. The author states, “No, I didn’t think so.”. Do you think she deserves the humiliation of her husband sleeping around?” (Preston, 213) and “Christy, death is your punishment. There has to be punishment or lessons will never be learned and society will never improve” (Preston, 214).
