There have been many prominent leaders that have molded America into what it is today, Lee is one of them. Robert E. Lee was born in Virginia, January 19, 1807, although one historian believes has was born one year earlier (Wikipedia.com 1). Little is actually known about his childhood, and Lee scarcely mentioned it as an adult. His father, Henry “Light Horse” Lee, left him and his family at a young age and never returned. In 1825, Robert E. Lee attended West Point and graduated second in his class in 1829.
In 1774, he was part of the First Continental Congress and also helped draft the Declaration of Independence as one of the founding fathers. Adams became the first vice president of the United States and the second president. John Adams was born in his family 's farm in Braintree, Massachusetts. In 1792, Braintree became Quincy and it got the name Quincy because it was named after Colonel John Quincy, also John Adams son John Quincy Adams was named after this town.
Caleb Strong was born on January 9, 1745 in Northampton. Strong graduated from Harvard in 1764 with the highest honors. He studied law and was admitted into the MAssachusetts bar in 1772. Strong was successful in his career, so he got the opportunity to be be boosted as county attorney. In 1783, he had the option to take a position on the state supreme court, but made the decision to reject it.
After the Revolutionary War started, the British and the Americans dove into a series of violent and bloody battles. While the British troops were well-trained and equipped with advanced weapons, the Continental Army suffered through hardships and their lack of experience lead to constant bloodshed at the battles. Throughout the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Americans suffered through painful losses against the British until the Battle of Saratoga occurred. This battle was led by Benedict Arnold and General Gates on the American side and General Burgoyne on the British side. In the end, the British army was defeated by Gates and Arnold’s careful plans in which they were trapped and ultimately forced to surrender to the Americans.

“Give me liberty or give me death” This was what Patrick Henry said during the American Revolutionary War so people would join with him to fight the British. The American Revolutionary war was from 1775 to 1783, we were fighting the British for freedom. America was able to beat the British because of many heroes and leaders. Two such leaders and heroes were: Nathanael Greene and Patrick Henry. Nathanael Greene is a Hero and a leader in the battle of Guilford Courthouse.
He said, "I dare not take a life without there be a proof no immaculate no slightest qualm of conscience may doubt it" (Miller 188). He did not want anyone to hang for a crime they did not commit, and he did not want any guilty conscience of it afterward. He started to realize that people are accusing others for their own gain, and when no one would listen, Hale quit the court. In Act 4, Hale tries to save people's lives by convincing them to confess. He doubts his own Puritan faith and pursues the falsely accused on his own.
Hale says to Danforth, “Excellency, I have signed seventy-two death warrants; I am a minister of the Lord, and I dare not take a life without there be a proof so immaculate no slightest qualm of conscience may doubt it” (The Crucible pg 184). At this point in the play, John Hale has a new perspective on the situation occurring in Salem. He realizes by starting the witch trials, he encouraged the accusation and death of innocent people. Hale was the only character out of the others that didn’t try to save his life. He tried to save others’ lives. Abigail betrayed Tituba by accusing her of witchcraft and making her drink blood. She betrayed Sarah Good and Goody Osburn, when she said she saw them with the devil, which sent them to jail and later, the gallows. Abigail betrayed Mary by accusing her of sending a cold wind at her, a shadow, and a yellow bird while in the court.
