This essay by Terry Tempest Williams, is describing us first the massacre of the prairie dog that occurred at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course, where over 400 prairie dog where gassed to death. There are 5 species of prairie dog and they are now threatened and might be in extinct in couple of years. The people wanted to exterminate the dogs because they were running the range because they consume a large amount of green grasses and forbs. According to Williams, “Prairie habitat not only for themselves but also for other grassland species. Prairies dog create diversity, destroy them, and you destroy a varied world (p86/87).”
Do you know how many gray wolves remain in North Dakota? As a result of so few packs of gray wolves left, there is no accurate total of how many still survive. The gray wolf has resulted in a threatened species as a consequence of predator-control eliminating them and destroying their habitat. Supposedly, they are killing too many livestock so predator-control is aiming additionally towards gray wolves. Though not commonly seen, gray wolves, usually mistaken for coyotes, are located everywhere in North Dakota.
Also, with the help of Ootek, a local Eskimo he was able to understand how wolves communicate and hunt, and he saw that these wolves were not a tremendous threat to the caribou. This book gives the reader a view into the life of these wild animals and how they all work together in their unique environment. Mowat had many doubts, but he slowly understood the truth about wolves. He also spent time following the wolves as they hunted and he examined their techniques. Mowat even experienced close up encounters and the wolves did not treat him like a foreigner.
Wolves can control the population of moose by killing the weak moose, making the pack stronger. This promotes a stronger pack and allows wildlife to access the vegetation they need. Without the wolves, the moose would just overgraze. The moose overgrazing leave no food for any other species, which then leads to dirty

Losing Oregon’s wolves is one of our biggest tragedies. Which is why, Oregon should reintroduce wolves. There is a saying about wolf country that some people may like. It was written by a great philosopher, writer, forester and former supervisor for Carson National Forest in New Mexico, named Aldo Leopold. For he once said, “Those unable to decipher the hidden meaning know nevertheless that it is there, for it is felt in all wolf country, and distinguishes that country from all other land.
Should we kill the wolves in Yellowstone? I think we shouldn 't kill the wolves in yellowstone. The people should decide if we should shoot them or if we should stop killing the wolves. Lots of the wolves are extinct or are going to die soon. And we should be nice to the wolves that wake you up in the morning.
As recently as 2012, the wolf population in Wyoming was a total of 328 wolves, with 224 outside of Yellowstone Park (Jonsson, 2012). In order to be taken off the endangered list, there is a requirement of a minimum of 300 wolves and at least 30 breeding pairs over a three year period (NPS, 2017). The actual numbers of wolves is at the bare minimum to be considered for removal from the endangered species
Past and present occurrences involving gray wolves have led us to perceive them as having a negative impact on the environment. Gray wolves have a negative impact on the environment because of their vicious attacks and attempted attacks. Although this certain type of wolf is very resourceful and well researched, they use it to their advantage to fight off their prey. Unfortunately, their prey is not always another animal, but a human being. Their violent behavior is what makes them a negative impact on the environment.
Leading them to become overpopulated and the forest to not be vegetated much at all. After the wolves were brought back into the park, they first lessened the deer population which led them to staying away from the valleys which made the trees grow and birds to make homes there. Then, beavers moved into the rivers and valleys, making homes and niches for other species. Wolves would also kill coyotes that made the rodent population rise as well, along with an array of other species. Without the wolves yellowstone park would have remained
Sixty years after the extirpation of wolves in the Northern Rockies and Great Plains of America, biologist and ecologist in Yellowstone National Park reintroduced wolves into a declining ecosystem that once thrived during their presence. The reintroduction brought immense controversy into the West and continues to stir outrage among anti-wolf groups. These anti-wolf supporters argue wolves are ruthless predators that cause destruction to natural environments and livestock. Conversely wolf advocates and scientists suggest that wolves are a keystone species that are essential to the natural regulation of our Western ecosystems. Although pro and anti-wolf advocates can agree that wolves have an effect on livestock, ungulate populations and ecosystems,
How would you feel to have your dog or your cat to be gone all of a sudden and him never coming back? The wolf population is rising and we should be able to hunt the wolves and be able to regulate their population. Wolves have been around for millions of years and our ancestors were able to hunt them so why can’t we? Wolves can be very dangerous especially when it comes to baby livestock when they aren’t able to protect themselves.
Running across snowy fields of grass, hunting to live and survive, and being killed in the end. These are the wolves. They are being killed, caught, and murdered, but why? No one should be hunting for wolves or even killing them. Some of the reasons that they are dying off is from humans.
Wildlife Conservation is often seen as a bad thing, but if you look at it from my perspective, then it is actually a good thing. People think of it as holding wild animals captive, but we are actually protecting them from poachers. The purpose of Wildlife Conservation is to protect the animals in danger, which I am in agreement 110%. Other people argue that we shouldn’t have conservations, but they don’t know the harm that can happen to unprotected animals.
According to Davies, there is no definite proof that an increase in bison equals an increase in the livestock infection rates. “No documented cases of wild bison spreading the disease to cattle exist thus far, but those whose livelihoods are directly affected are reluctant to take unnecessary risks. In addition, many ask why bison bulls are frequently killed when cows are the primary transmitters of the disease” (Davies). Furthermore, overzealous killing and extended support of the policy can lead bison to extinction. Although hoards of roaming bison outside the park will lead to damaged properties and the spread of brucellosis, many animal rights activists and environmentalists argue that “continued killing of the Yellowstone bison will result in a collective loss for all other life forms as the last wild bison in North America might be rendered extinct” (Davies).
