Losing Oregon’s wolves is one of our biggest tragedies. Which is why, Oregon should reintroduce wolves. There is a saying about wolf country that some people may like. It was written by a great philosopher, writer, forester and former supervisor for Carson National Forest in New Mexico, named Aldo Leopold. For he once said, “Those unable to decipher the hidden meaning know nevertheless that it is there, for it is felt in all wolf country, and distinguishes that country from all other land. It tingles the spine of all who hear wolves by night, or who scan their tracks by day.” Which to some people may mean that a country with wolves is a country with a different kind of soul that a place without wolves doesn’t have. Oregon use to have this, right now we don’t, when we lost our wolves we killed that unique part of our soul. Which is why people should learn about wolves and what they do for the environment. Some evidence is, a brief timeline of the wolves in Oregon is the following, the Gray wolves were once living in most of Oregon, until farmers started getting mad about the wolves killing their livestock. Fixing our bird population will help Oregon a lot by, bringing back some insects and bugs, making the plants healthier, which then creates more places for smaller animals to hide, in a game of hide and seek with the predators, also that means bringing back a balance to the ecosystem. Bringing back the wolves, helps bring tourists to Oregon, because of the people who live in places where there is no wolves, may want to see the wolves and how they helped our state.
